Arcade Fun

April 27, 2009

I decided to head on over to W-Hat to see what is new. I haven’t been here in ages. I found an arcade building in their mall. I had fun playing phrase invaders and go to the end, thus successfully saving the earth. Their were some pretty odd phrases that I had to type. I got a scode of 1270 points. How high of a score can you get? There were plenty of other games there as well such as Freestylers:Rock, Zombie Meltdown, VectorZone, Fist of Discomfort, Freestylers:Groove, Wack-a-Mole, Skeeball, and Cruise Control. When all was said and done, I even had a few tickets to grab some cool prizes.

Greenhouse Assembly

April 27, 2009

I helped out my in-laws today with putting the roof on their greenhouse. Once the plastic was up, the inside not only echoed, but became very hot. Everyone quickly suggested that the fans may be the next thing to install. The sides of the greenhouse will also roll up to help a breeze to pass through the area and a black net goes on top to help build up some shade. Lots of little things still need to be put into place, but the hardest part is finally over (getting the roof up). My uncle had the same kind of greenhouse as well, but his was much taller. Although it was just him and his friend, they had some pretty heavy equipment to help them manage the plastic at the peak of the roof.

To the key of G#

April 21, 2009

Rather then releasing the dark energy of the universe, Pooky Amsterdam takes the advice from her co-host, Hydra Shaftoe, and hums to herself as they begin to host tonights episode of The First Question. Guests tonight are Easy Babcock, CInders Vale, Greyark Hightower, and Jorie Teichmann.

Strumming along

April 21, 2009

I was playing with my guitar tonight and I figured why not just use voice chat and have my own little show while looking out across the water. I started out just setting on the docks at woodbridge and little later I saw the grumpus tourboat make its rounds. I sat down and continued to play my guitar while touring the five islands. I’m not much of a player myself. I just purchased an electric guitar a month ago to help me get grounded. no one is around to make a sound except me, the ocean, my guitar, and the pitter of the grumpus.

The Gray People (Muted)

April 19, 2009

The vio conference today had a griefer causing a lot of trouble. Rather than deal with listening to him cause problems on voice chat, I decided to out-right mute him. Amazingly enough, his avatar turned gray and rendered as an avatar imposter no matter how close I got. Amazing. I think I found a bug with the feature as well. As soon as I unchecked “render avatar imposters”, all of his textures showed up as normal. Toggling mute and rendering imposters on his character did not turn him back into gray.

Sculpt Madness

April 18, 2009

I’ve been playing with a lot of tools with sculpties. I am becoming frustrated with the inability to make simple objects. The best that can be done is to make rocks. Hard edges are hard to make unless you double-up vertexes. Some programs allow you to double them up on the edge, but they equally distribute points along the depth rather then doubling up the first pair on the top and bottom. I’ve also got “flaps” to worry about if the edge does not have a solid path to the center of each side. I just want something that can convert a few prims in SL to a 1-prim sculpty. Argh!

CSC in Second Life

April 16, 2009

I’ve been working on a project for a month now. My company is now officially in Second Life. It’s our 50th anniversary and we are celebrating with a private party.

On November 26, 1968, we became the first IT services company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. On April 16, 2009, we rang the closing bell at the NYSE.

In the virtual environment, we have fireworks, a guest book, games, integrated web- chat, branding videos playing, RSS feeds coming in-world, chat bots, automated group invitation bots, branded registration, cloned islands, load balancing, and more. Everything was made by CSC employees. It’s been a tough month, but I’ll probably get time back to start blogging again.

Korii Tiger’s Birthday

April 8, 2009

Today was Korii’s birthday. I got her a couple of real life gifts, but she also had the time of her life in-world tongiht. Just about everyone was throwing her a party as many different locations. Pooky Amsterdam gave her a birthday shout-out on “the first question”, and Cypress Rosewood gave a special performance as well. Many of her friends wore all white in her honor today as well.
