FilterCam HUD

CodeBastard Redgrave gave me a heads up and sent a FilterCam HUD my way to try out. It is a pretty interesting tool for someone who takes a lot of snapshots. It is an object that covers the entire view and displays filters overtop of what you see. The filter that I have on now is the Emo filter with a dark purple color to it. There are plenty of presets. Ryker Beck created the images, and CodeBastard Redgrave did all of the interaction.

I bought one and haven’t played much with it, but I think it will be good for machinima given that (I believe) you can make your own custom overlays. It should be easy to make specific really cool effects that way. It’ll be interesting to see if it’s advantageous to do overlays that way or just drop em on in final cut.

    Cheers.

The one problem I have with HUD’s is that you can’t alt-zoom on anything that it covers. However, with a 3D mouse, I don’t need to worry about that kind of stuff. I believe most machinimatographers have 3D mice anyway.

If they don’t, they should :)
