I logged into the virtual world of second life today to find a strange message from Aeron Undercroft. They addressed me by my real life name and asked if I was there. I replied asking who they were and how they knew me. Unfortunately, they were not online. I don’t mind that people know me in real life. It’s just that I would like to know who it is that knows me, or why they know me. Later in the night I find a newbie walking around my shop looking at different things. I begin to make a small conversation and find that they heard about second life through my blog. Impressive … only it turns out that they know about my blog through me! This was the same person that I work with.

Since I found no “real person” understand about SL anyways, and since I found that my SL personality and my RL personality drift apart, I talk to nobody in RL anymore about my SL endeavours, particularly not my family and coworkers.

I’m exactly the opposite. People understand what we’re trying to do in SL, and though all have given me the “yea, I’ll have to check it out sometime.” I’ve never had any of them contact me in world. But, I’ll still tell them about it. One of the many utilities will sink in eventually.
I just find it funny that they played it cool and didn’t give away who they were right away!

Another co-worker that I introduced to SL asked me for his SL Name so she can spook him back.
